HAT Trustees was founded by Andrew Ashley Taylor and was first established in the town of Stockport in the North of England, before establishing a second additional office base in the South of England in Uckfield to meet the needs of our growing client base in London and the South East of England.
Both directors live in Stockport and Helen Ashley Taylor (HAT) grew up and was educated in Stockport, a town once the centre of the country’s hatting industry with over 400 years of hatting in the area. By 1884 Stockport exported more than 6 million hats a year and the hatting industry used to be one of Stockport’s primary employers.
Given the challenges of the many hats that some pension scheme trustees are required to wear in the governance of their schemes, the name of our company not only reflects the initials of our directors’ names and the history of our first office location, but also symbolises the essence of one of the challenging issues of serious concern to The Pensions Regulator (TPR) – the multi-hat problem. HAT Trustees is experienced and proficient at finding solutions to manage such conflicts of interest faced by many pension scheme trustees. The company has also been appointed to act for schemes as an independent trustee in order to bring independence to the decision making process where actual and perceived conflicts of interest exist.
We warmly welcome you to our website and we are genuinely interested in you and the ways in which we can be involved with your pension scheme.
We look forward to hearing from you.
With warm regards
Andrew Ashley Taylor, Chair and Founding Director of HAT Trustees Limited
